I’ve been tracking music I listen to via last.fm off and on for a while. They’ve got a nifty flash player that will let you listen to a bunch of the songs I’ve tracked. Handy! If you want to add me as a friend at last.fm, here’s my profile over there.
Kier Byrnes from Three Day Threshold and cohorts hosted Rodfest V on Friday, January 19th at the Paradise Rock Club. It was the fifth year for the event that turned into a benefit concert three years ago after Kier's cousin Rodney died in a car accident. They had a goal to raise $8,000 Friday night for a scholarship fund but ended up raising $20,000!
I took a bunch of photos at the shindig. The full album is over on Flickr.
I was tinkering with the new groups functionality at Vox and set up a new group called Boston Rocks. Join it if you like Boston bands and want to share and read tidbits about upcoming shows, photos, etc.
Maybe I'm 33 going on 24 instead of 34 but ... I still enjoy making a mixed CD. I put something together this week for a new cohort and have thoroughly enjoyed obsessing over the song selections and then making a cover with one of my photos on Flickr then the inside song/band tidbits. It's fun.
Here is the list o' bands on the CD:
Concrete Blonde
Tina Schlieske
The Beautiful South
The Velvet Underground
Beth Orton
The Blizzard of 78
Dixie Chicks
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians
Everything But The Girl
Glen Phillips
Jess Klein
KT Tunstall
Lloyd Cole
Rufus Wainwright
Spoon
Wilco
Some plans for tonight got moved to tomorrow so I am thinking about heading over to the Middle East tonight to see Sloan. I haven't seen them live since late 1996 or early 1997. Somehow I can't quite seem to shake The Plague (aka lingering cold). But ... rock and roll may win out anyway!
Check out Shoot the Moon's video for "It's All Good" and then go vote for them in The 2006 Noise Poll until December 29th. They're nominated for Best Live Band, Best Song and Best Male Vocalist.
